Garnacho accused of ‘disrespecting’ Man Utd as ex-Red Devil warns Chelsea move could backfire

Alejandro Garnacho’s departure from Manchester United to Chelsea has sparked sharp criticism, with former Red Devils defender Paul Parker accusing the winger of “disrespecting” the club and warning he risks isolating himself at Stamford Bridge.

The 21-year-old joined Chelsea this summer in a £40 million transfer after manager Ruben Amorim told him he was not part of United’s long-term plans. While Garnacho showed flashes of talent at Old Trafford, his off-field conduct and frequent Cristiano Ronaldo-inspired celebrations divided opinion among supporters.

Parker, speaking to mybettingsites.co.uk, was unsparing in his assessment: “His conduct on and off the pitch was disrespectful. All he wanted was to score and imitate Ronaldo. United fans stood by him through difficult times, even when his family caused controversy online, yet he gave nothing back. He’s effectively stuck two fingers up at the club that nurtured him.”

The winger’s form had been inconsistent despite moments of brilliance, including his spectacular overhead kick against Everton that earned him the 2024 FIFA Puskas Award. However, Parker suggested Garnacho was fortunate to win the accolade and questioned whether he has the pace or technical ability to break into Chelsea’s strongest XI, particularly in high-stakes matches against Champions League rivals.

“Chelsea have overloaded their squad with talent,” Parker added. “Does Garnacho really start in a big game against Arsenal or Liverpool? I doubt it. He’ll need a huge leap in performance to prove he belongs.”

Chelsea return to Premier League action on September 13 against Brentford, a fixture where Garnacho could make his debut. The Argentine will be eager to prove doubters wrong and show he can thrive in one of England’s most competitive squads.
