Jamie Vardy is preparing for the next chapter of his career in Italy, admitting that while he faces a steep language barrier at Cremonese, he intends to let his football do the talking.

After 13 unforgettable years at Leicester City, where he scored 136 Premier League goals and played a central role in the club’s historic 2016 title triumph, the 38-year-old striker has embarked on his first venture abroad. Joining Cremonese on a free transfer, Vardy revealed that he consulted former Leicester coach Enzo Maresca before committing to the Serie A challenge.

“The language is a bit of a problem, but you can communicate through football,” Vardy told reporters at his official unveiling. “When I spoke to the coach, I could see his passion and his determination to have me here. That convinced me. I was also impressed by the humility of the club owner Giovanni Arvedi, who even gave me a book about Cremona in English.”

Vardy’s admiration for Italian football dates back to his childhood. “On Sunday mornings in England, I used to watch Serie A. Del Piero was my idol—I loved watching him score goals,” he said.

Despite his age, Vardy brushed aside doubts about whether he can still perform at the highest level. “People have doubted me my entire career, but I’ve always proved them wrong. Training here has been excellent, and I feel at my physical best. Age is just a number,” he insisted.
