Minnesota Ends Golden State Warriors’ Season

The Minnesota Timberwolves have advanced to the Western Conference Finals in the NBA after defeating the Golden State Warriors 121–110 at Target Center in Minneapolis, clinching the series 4–1.

The Timberwolves once again outperformed the seven-time NBA champions to reach the conference finals for the second consecutive season. They will now face the winner of the Denver Nuggets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder series, which the Thunder currently lead 3–2 ahead of Game 6 in Denver.

There’s no doubt the Warriors struggled without their star Stephen Curry, who was injured in Game 1 and confirmed unavailable for the decisive Game 5. His absence—especially in long-range shooting—was deeply felt.

Minnesota controlled the game from the outset, benefiting from hot shooting to build a 25-point lead by the end of the third quarter. Although the Warriors mounted a brief comeback and reduced the deficit to 9 points with 7 minutes remaining, the hosts held on to secure the win.

Julius Randle stood out for the Timberwolves, scoring 29 points along with 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Anthony Edwards added 22 points, 12 assists, and 7 rebounds.

On the other side, in Curry’s absence, Jimmy Butler couldn’t carry the load, finishing with just 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists. Brandin Podziemski led the Warriors with 28 points, followed by Congolese forward Jonathan Kuminga with 26.

Celtics Bounce Back Despite Tatum’s Injury

At TD Garden, the Boston Celtics responded in the best possible way to the shock of Jayson Tatum’s season-ending injury by routing the New York Knicks 127–102, keeping their hopes alive of reaching the Eastern Conference Finals.

Tatum suffered a torn Achilles tendon during Game 4, which Boston lost 121–113 on Monday. In his absence, Derrick White and Jaylen Brown combined for 60 points to extend the series and force a Game 6 at Madison Square Garden in New York.

White led the Celtics with 34 points, while Brown added 26 points, 12 assists, and 8 rebounds. Backup center Luke Kornet also impressed—especially on defense—with 7 blocks while adding 10 points and 9 rebounds. Six Celtics players scored in double figures.

For the Knicks, Josh Hart was the top scorer with 24 points, followed by Jalen Brunson with 22, and Dominican big man Karl-Anthony Towns with 19 points and 8 rebounds.

After a 59–59 tie at halftime, the Celtics took over by outscoring the Knicks 32–17 in the third quarter, extending the lead to 23 points by the final period.

New York’s hopes of reaching their first conference finals since 2000 took a major hit when Brunson—who entered the third quarter with no fouls—picked up five and was benched by coach Tom Thibodeau. With his team trailing 91-76, Thibodeau brought his star player back into the game at the start of the fourth quarter, but it took only 7 minutes and 19 seconds before he committed his sixth foul and was forced to leave the court.
