Jhon Duran Joins Mourinho’s Fenerbahce on Loan After Prolific Saudi Stint

Fenerbahce have secured the services of Colombian striker Jhon Duran on a one-year loan deal from Al-Nassr, adding firepower to Jose Mourinho’s squad ahead of the new Turkish Süper Lig season. The move comes just six months after the 21-year-old forward made headlines with a £71 million transfer from Aston Villa to Al-Nassr.

Duran has enjoyed a meteoric rise in recent seasons. At Aston Villa, he netted 12 goals in 29 appearances during the 2023/24 campaign, despite spending much of his time as a substitute behind Ollie Watkins. His January switch to Al-Nassr revitalized his form, scoring 12 goals in 18 games and helping the Saudi club clinch a third-place finish in the Saudi Pro League.

Having now joined Fenerbahce, who finished second in Turkey last season, Duran will link up with Cristiano Ronaldo’s former teammate in Mourinho’s reshaped frontline. The Colombian international has 17 caps and 3 goals to his name for his country and will aim to find consistency under Mourinho’s tactical leadership.

Originally signed by Villa from MLS side Chicago Fire in January 2023 for £18 million, Duran scored 20 goals in 78 appearances for the Premier League side—most of them off the bench. Now at Fenerbahce, he brings his athleticism, speed, and scoring instincts to a club eager to reclaim domestic dominance.

While Duran departs Al-Nassr on loan, Cristiano Ronaldo recently renewed his commitment to the Saudi club, signing a two-year contract extension.
