Phoenix halts Lakers’ winning streak

The Phoenix Suns, led by Dillon Brooks, ended the Los Angeles Lakers’ winning run with a 125–108 victory in the NBA.

Thanks to Brooks’ 33 points — compensating for the injury to team star Devin Booker — the Lakers’ streak stopped at seven games. Collin Gillespie added 28 points, including eight three-pointers from 14 attempts, as the Suns snapped a two-game skid with a win in the first of their four-game road trip.

Booker scored 11 points in 10 minutes in the first quarter before leaving the game with a thigh injury — a technical and emotional blow for Phoenix. Before exiting, the Suns’ leading man had reached 17,000 career points in 11 NBA seasons, becoming the third-youngest player to record 17,000 points and 3,600 assists at 29 years and 32 days old.

In contrast, Slovenian star Luka Dončić posted 38 points and 11 rebounds for the Lakers, while Austin Reaves added 16 points for a team that suffered only their third loss in 16 games.

In another matchup, Donovan Mitchell erupted for 43 points, along with 9 rebounds and 6 assists, while Jaylon Tyson added 27 — his highest output of the season — to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers past the Indiana Pacers 135–119, ending a three-game losing streak.
De’Andre Hunter and Evan Mobley each scored 13 points for Cleveland, which led by as many as 21 in the second quarter.
For the Pacers, Cameroonian forward Pascal Siakam finished with 26 points and seven rebounds, while Andrew Nembhard added 21.

Elsewhere, the Washington Wizards defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 129–126, the Detroit Pistons edged the Atlanta Hawks 99–98, the Brooklyn Nets beat the Charlotte Hornets 116–103, the Orlando Magic topped the Chicago Bulls 125–120, the Miami Heat outscored the LA Clippers 140–123, the Utah Jazz beat the Houston Rockets 133–125, and the Dallas Mavericks defeated the Denver Nuggets 131–121.
