Raghed Al-Najjar sheds tears as Ronaldo scores, yet Al-Nasr gets eliminated from the AFC Champions League

Al-Nasr Saudi team goalkeeper, Raghed Al-Najjar, experienced the worst moments of his career during the AFC Champions League match against Al-Ain from the United Arab Emirates. In the 103rd minute, Al-Najjar made a fatal mistake inside the penalty area after failing to catch the ball, leading to a goal for the opponents.

Al-Najjar’s reaction to his teammate Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal, against Al Ain, caught the attention after the Portuguese star scored a goal from a penalty kick in the 118th minute, giving his team a 4-3 victory in the second leg of the quarter-finals and forcing the match into a penalty shootout after the two-legged tie ended 4-4 on aggregate.

After the goal, Al-Najjar was extremely happy, shedding tears; he hugged Ronaldo and kissed his head.

But the joy of Ronaldo and Al-Najjar was not long-lived, as Al-Nasr lost the penalty shootout 3-1, ending their journey in the continental championship.

Al-Najjar apologized to his team’s fans after the match ended, stating: “In the beginning, our goal was to come back to the match and qualify, as we were catching up with the score after every goal scored by the opponent.”

He expressed his gratitude, saying, “I thank the Al-Nasr fans who attended the match. A simple apology is insufficient for our fans, as they deserve more, especially since we promised them victory in this tournament.”

He said, “We often wish for things, but they don’t always come to fruition. This is fate, and I deeply apologize for the misfortune that led to the third goal”.
