Wolves Sack Vitor Pereira After Winless Start to the Season

Wolverhampton Wanderers have dismissed head coach Vitor Pereira following a disastrous start to their Premier League campaign, with the club failing to register a single victory in their opening ten matches.

Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to Fulham marked Wolves’ eighth loss of the season, leaving them rooted to the bottom of the table and eight points adrift of safety.

Pereira, who took charge in December 2024 and signed a new three-year deal in September, had initially guided the team to survival last term, lifting them from 19th to 16th in the standings. However, optimism quickly faded as a winless streak extended into double figures.

Tensions between the Portuguese coach and supporters reached a boiling point after last week’s 3-2 defeat to Burnley, when Pereira was escorted away following confrontations with angry fans at Molineux.

While Wolves managed victories over West Ham and Everton in the Carabao Cup, their cup run ended in the last 16 with a loss to Chelsea.

This summer’s exodus of key players — including Matheus Cunha to Manchester United for £62.5 million, Rayan Aït-Nouri to Manchester City for £31 million, and captain Nelson Semedo’s move to Fenerbahce — compounded the club’s struggles.

Speculation surrounding Norway striker Jørgen Strand Larsen’s future further destabilized the squad, as Pereira integrated five new signings amid growing pressure and dwindling results.

The club is now expected to appoint an interim manager ahead of next weekend’s fixture as they seek to rescue their faltering season.
