What are teaser bets?

Teaser betting allows you to move the spread of points on the fora and total when combining several predictions in one coupon.

Teaser bets are similar to expresses, but the ability to move the line makes life much easier for the bettor. For this reason, teasers are very popular among American soccer and basketball fans.

The concept of a teaser bid

A teaser bid includes several predictions. Every choice has to be right for the bet to play out. One wrong prediction and the bookmaker will calculate the deal in his favor.

Teaser bets are safer than express bets – the player has the opportunity to shift each line in his favor at the expense of teaser points and increase the odds of success.

Potential profit on a teaser is less than on a classic express – the bookmaker insures his own risks and reduces the quote of the multi-state bets.

When betting on teasers, it is important to remember that, as with doubles betting, every goal must be scored for a successful bet to be successful.

How a teaser bid works

Teasers are related to changing the point differential, so American soccer and basketball are the two main sports used for teaser betting.

Teaser bets can be placed at most leading international bookmakers on NFL, NBA, NCAA Football and NCAA Basketball.

Types of sports for the teaser

Teaser can be bet only in basketball and American soccer, because there is a large number of goals, and adjusting the values of total and handicap by a few game indicators (teaser points) is not so significant. You can’t bet teasers in traditional soccer – the number of goals is too small here, and even an adjustment of 1 goal (for one teaser point) would significantly increase a player’s chances.

Also, teasers cannot be bet in tennis, hockey, and other sports with not as much scoring action as basketball and American soccer. The most common teaser values are: for basketball – 4, 4. 5 and 5 points (with both minus and plus signs); for American soccer, 6, 6. 5 and 7 points (both plus and minus).

When to use a teaser bid

Teasers that involve moving the underdog line at odds of 1.5, 2, and 2.5 points often make sense, much like soccer teasers when the underdog line is moved at odds of 7.5, 8, or 8.5 points. In each case, experienced bettors recommend moving the line by six points.

Pros and cons

Pros:

  • increases the odds of winning;
  • you can choose events, although the selection is limited.

Minuses:

  • the quote goes down;
  • possible betting events and teaser points are determined by the bookmaker.
