Güler shines as Alonso hails Bellingham ‘the most complete in the world’ after Juventus win

Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso praised both Arda Güler and Jude Bellingham after Los Blancos edged Juventus 1–0 in the Champions League, maintaining their perfect group-stage record. The victory, secured by Bellingham’s second-half strike, further underlined Madrid’s strength under Alonso, who continues to build a side rich in depth and balance.

Alonso singled out 20-year-old Arda Güler for his growing influence, describing him as a player who “gives great meaning to the game.” The Turkish midfielder, who joined Real Madrid from Fenerbahçe last season, has now contributed four goals and seven assists in 18 appearances across all competitions.

“Arda is improving every day,” Alonso said. “He enjoys football, he’s creative, and when he’s involved, our whole dynamic changes. He reminds me of Wirtz at Leverkusen — a young player with immense talent and confidence.”

Jude Bellingham, back after a minor injury setback, scored his 18th goal of the season with a well-timed finish following a rebound in the 57th minute. Alonso described the England star as “one of the most complete players in the world,” lauding his ability to dictate tempo and arrive in scoring positions.

“He’s a midfielder who builds and finishes,” Alonso said. “He covers ground, wins duels, and brings energy. That’s why he’s so complete — he gives us both control and threat.”

Bellingham’s performance reflected the form that made him last season’s La Liga Player of the Year, and his goal marked his fifth in the Champions League this campaign — a personal-best tally.

Despite dominating possession (64%) and creating 26 shots to Juventus’s 11, Real Madrid needed Thibaut Courtois and Éder Militão to preserve the lead. Courtois made six crucial saves, while Militão’s composure helped Madrid record their fourth consecutive clean sheet in Europe.

Alonso applauded both, saying: “Thibaut delivers on big nights, and Militao’s recovery gives us defensive authority again.”

With Madrid unbeaten in 13 matches across all competitions, attention now turns to Sunday’s El Clásico against Barcelona at the Bernabéu — a contest that could define early title momentum.

“We’re in good form,” Alonso said. “The Clasico always carries special meaning — for the team, for qualification, for pride. We’re ready for it.”
