Real Madrid Escapes From a Loss Against Elche

Real Madrid failed to secure a win for the third consecutive match after being held to a 2-2 draw by hosts Elche in Matchday 13 of La Liga.

Contrary to expectations, Elche were the brighter side early on, creating several dangerous chances. They waited until the second half to break the deadlock after a brilliant back-heel pass from Germán Valera to Álex Vibas, whose shot struck the post and bounced straight into the net (55).

Following the substitutions made by coach Xabi Alonso — introducing Brazilian Vinícius Júnior, Uruguayan Federico Valverde, and Frenchman Eduardo Camavinga — Real Madrid equalised from a corner delivered by Englishman Trent Alexander-Arnold. The ball dropped to fellow countryman Jude Bellingham, who fired it into the penalty area, where it found defender Dean Housen to turn it into the net (78).

But Elche restored their lead through a superb solo effort by former Real Madrid player Álvaro Rodríguez, who dribbled past Raúl Asensio before slotting the ball home (84).

The royal club responded just three minutes later through Bellingham, who levelled the score with three minutes remaining in regular time (87). The hosts then finished the match with ten men after Víctor Chast was sent off in stoppage time for a reckless challenge (90+6).

Despite the draw, Real Madrid reclaimed top spot in the standings, one point ahead of Barcelona, while Elche moved up to 16 points in eleventh place.

12 Matches Without Defeat for Atlético Madrid

Atlético Madrid continued their impressive run, extending their unbeaten streak in La Liga to 12 matches after narrowly defeating their hosts and city rivals Getafe with a single goal.

The victory for Los Rojiblancos — their fifth straight win across all competitions — came via an own goal by Portuguese defender Domingos Duarte seven minutes from time. The result lifted the capital club to 28 points in fourth place, just one point behind Villarreal in third.

Diego Simeone’s men have now lost only once in their last 12 matches in all competitions — a 0-4 defeat to Arsenal on 21 October. Since then, they have put together a strong league run of 12 games without defeat, signaling a clear resurgence after a slow start that saw them collect just two points from their opening three fixtures.

For their part, Real Betis were held to a 1-1 draw by Girona.

Girona took the lead through Ukrainian forward Vladyslav Vanat (20), before Betis equalised through Argentine left-back Valentín Gómez (75).

Betis now sit fifth with 21 points, while Girona remain eighteenth with 11.

Oviedo also drew 1-1 with Rayo Vallecano.
