Barcelona Back on Track with 3-0 Win Over Getafe

Defending champions Barcelona flexed their attacking power once again with a 3-0 home victory over Getafe in La Liga’s fifth round.

Playing at the temporary Johan Cruyff Stadium while awaiting clearance to reopen the revamped Camp Nou, Spain international Ferran Torres stole the spotlight with a first-half brace (15’, 34’), taking his tally to four goals—just one behind Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé at the top of the scoring charts.

Dani Olmo sealed the result early in the second half (62’), handing Barça their second straight win after being held 1-1 by Rayo Vallecano on matchday three. The win lifted the Catalan giants back to second place, two points behind rivals Real Madrid, who maintained their perfect start with a 2-0 victory over Espanyol.

Despite still missing young star Lamine Yamal, sidelined with an injury picked up on international duty, Barcelona dominated from the outset. The opener came from a flowing move as Raphinha crossed into the box, Dani Olmo flicked on with his heel, and Torres fired past goalkeeper David Soria (15’).

The forward then doubled the lead with a crisp right-footed strike from outside the area after another assist from Raphinha (34’).

In the second half, substitute Marcus Rashford set up Olmo, who drilled home from inside the box (62’).

Atlético Madrid Stumble Again

Meanwhile, Atlético Madrid’s rocky start to the season continued with a 1-1 draw away to Mallorca.

The visitors missed an early chance when Argentine striker Julián Álvarez, returning from injury, saw his 14th-minute penalty saved by goalkeeper Leo Román.

Matters worsened as Norwegian forward Alexander Sørloth was sent off in the 72nd minute for a reckless challenge. Despite the setback, Atlético took the lead through Englishman Conor Gallagher, who slotted in from close range after Román parried a Marcos Llorente strike (79’).

Mallorca struck back as Kosovan striker Vedat Muriqi powered in a header from substitute Jan Virgilí’s cross (85’), netting his fourth goal of the season to leave Atlético 12th with six points.

Elsewhere, Rayo Vallecano drew 1-1 with Celta Vigo.

Borja Iglesias gave Celta the lead in the 49th minute, only for Jorge de Frutos to level for Rayo 16 minutes later. Both sides now sit level on five points, with Rayo 14th on goal difference.

Elche secured their second win of the season, beating newcomers Real Oviedo 1-0 thanks to an early strike from Portuguese forward André Silva (9’).

The result moved Elche up to fifth on nine points, while Oviedo remain 17th with just three points.
