The NBA is buzzing with major trade moves, headlined by the Miami Heat’s Jimmy Butler making a high-profile switch to the Golden State Warriors. Butler will now join forces with Stephen Curry and other key Warriors players.

In exchange, the Warriors are sending Canadian forward Andrew Wiggins, German guard Dennis Schröder, and Kyle Anderson to the Heat. The deal also includes a first-round draft pick, adding further value for Miami.

Butler’s departure from the Heat came after a series of issues, including his suspension for repeatedly violating team rules and behavior that was considered harmful to the franchise.

Since his arrival in Miami from the Philadelphia 76ers in 2019, Butler led the Heat to NBA Finals appearances in 2020 and 2023. While his form has dipped this season, averaging just 17 points per game, his experience and leadership could be exactly what Golden State needs as they aim to contend for another championship.

Another headline move saw Khris Middleton leaving the Milwaukee Bucks for the Washington Wizards, with Kyle Kuzma heading to Milwaukee.

The Milwaukee Bucks (26 wins, 22 losses) will bolster their roster by adding Kyle Kuzma from the Washington Wizards, the team with the worst record in the league this season (8 wins, 41 losses). Kuzma, 29, has averaged 15.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game this season for the Wizards.

Khris Middleton, who played a key role in helping the Bucks secure the 2021 NBA title, will also depart Milwaukee. Since joining the Bucks in a trade deal in 2013, after starting his career with the Detroit Pistons, Middleton has remained one of the team’s core contributors.

As part of the trade, Patrick Baldwin Jr. and a future second-round pick from the 2025 NBA Draft will head to Milwaukee. Baldwin will then be rerouted to the San Antonio Spurs to maintain the Bucks’ financial balance. In return, the Washington Wizards will receive AJ Johnson and a 2028 first-round draft pick.

The Washington Wizards also made another move, sending Lithuanian center Jonas Valančiūnas to the Sacramento Kings in exchange for two second-round draft picks. Additionally, the Wizards acquired Sidy Cissoko, a 20-year-old French prospect, who they had recently obtained from the San Antonio Spurs in a separate trade involving De’Aaron Fox.

The Sacramento Kings, currently in eighth place in the Western Conference, are looking to strengthen their lineup by pairing Valančiūnas with Zach LaVine in a bid to secure a playoff spot.

The New Orleans Pelicans also got involved, sending German big man Daniel Theis to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics traded reserve guard Jaden Springer to the Houston Rockets in a deal to further adjust their roster.
