Al Ahly Beat Al Mokawloon but Receive Shocking News

Al Ahly secured an important 3-1 victory over their guests Al Mokawloon Al Arab in the match that brought the two sides together in Round 21 of the Egyptian Premier League.

The win provided the Red Devils with a strong boost in their race for the top spot, despite the difficult atmosphere surrounding the match due to some unpleasant news received by the club. The first setback came with the injury of player Karim Fouad, who was forced to leave the pitch early, raising concerns within the technical staff amid a congested fixture schedule in the coming weeks.

The club suffered another blow after a decision was issued banning their fans from attending the second leg of the CAF Champions League quarter-final against Tunisia’s Espérance Sportive de Tunis, scheduled to take place at Cairo International Stadium on March 21.

Al Ahly are set to face Espérance in the first leg of the quarter-final at the Stade de Radès in the Tunisian capital on March 14, with the return leg to be played in Cairo a week later. The Egyptian side will be aiming to continue their continental campaign successfully as they chase their 13th title in the competition’s history.

Al Ahly supporters had thrown water bottles at the players of AS FAR following the goalless draw at Cairo International Stadium. The incident prompted the Moroccan club to file an official complaint with the disciplinary committee, while Al Ahly responded by stating that the visiting team’s supporters had started the disturbances in the stands.

On the pitch, Al Ahly imposed their dominance for most of the match and opened the scoring in the 35th minute through Mahmoud Hassan “Trezeguet,” who finished off a precise pass from Emam Ashour.

The Red Devils maintained their pressure in the second half, with Ashour himself doubling the lead by scoring the second goal.

Despite Al Ahly’s control, Al Mokawloon Al Arab reduced the deficit in the 85th minute through Mohamed Salem, who capitalized on a counterattack to give his side hope in the closing stages. However, Al Ahly sealed the victory in stoppage time when Hussein El Shahat led a quick attack and finished it successfully to score the third goal.

With this victory, Al Ahly raised their tally to 40 points from 19 matches, continuing to put pressure on leaders Zamalek, who have the same number of points but with one game in hand. They are also level with Pyramids, who secured an important 3-1 win over Haras El Hodoud in the same round.
