Zverev’s First Major Title Strengthens His Position Among the World’s Elite

Germany’s Alexander Zverev strengthened his grip on third place in the ATP rankings following his triumph at the French Open, where he captured the first Grand Slam title of his career. The victory also allowed him to close the gap on world No. 1 Jannik Sinner and second-ranked Carlos Alcaraz.

The latest rankings also featured a significant rise for Italy’s Flavio Cobolli, who reached the Roland Garros final and broke into the top 10 for the first time in his career, climbing to 10th place.

Several other Italian players benefited from strong performances on the Paris clay courts. Matteo Arnaldi moved up to world No. 34 after reaching the semi-finals, while Matteo Berrettini climbed to No. 48 following his quarter-final appearance.

Canada’s Félix Auger-Aliassime achieved the highest ranking of his career by rising to fourth place after his impressive run in Paris, while Serbia’s Novak Djokovic dropped three positions to seventh after his third-round exit.

With Alcaraz sidelined through injury and both Sinner and Djokovic suffering early eliminations, the new generation of players made a powerful statement. Czech talent Jakub Menšík climbed to world No. 17 after reaching the semi-finals, while Spain’s Rafael Jódar rose to No. 19, the best ranking of his career.

Brazilian rising star João Fonseca also moved up to 25th in the world after reaching the quarter-finals and recording notable victories over Novak Djokovic and Norway’s Casper Ruud.

In the women’s rankings, young Russian star Mirra Andreeva continued her rapid rise after winning the French Open title, climbing to sixth in the world.

Meanwhile, Poland’s Maja Chwalińska enjoyed one of the biggest jumps in the rankings, moving up 93 places to No. 21 after reaching the final.

On the other hand, American Coco Gauff slipped to seventh place following her third-round exit, while Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina and Poland’s Iga Świątek maintained their positions near the top of the rankings despite disappointing campaigns in Paris.

Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk also continued her impressive progress, climbing three places to a career-high ranking of No. 12 after reaching the semi-finals of the French Open.
