According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Girona have emerged as the frontrunners to secure his services on loan. The City Football Group–owned side, currently competing in La Liga and European contention, would offer Ter Stegen top-flight football and a platform to restore match sharpness.

For Barcelona, the deal would ease squad congestion while reinforcing their commitment to García’s development. For Ter Stegen, it represents a chance to remind Spanish football of his elite pedigree. Whether this loan proves a short-term detour or a turning point in his Camp Nou career remains one of the most intriguing subplots of the season.
