Damac Breathe Again with Win Over Al Riyadh as Club President Receives Suspension

Damac secured an important 3-0 victory over their visitors Al Riyadh in the Saudi Pro League, a result that gave them a strong boost in their league battle as they temporarily moved out of the relegation zone.

The win ended a run of three consecutive matches without victory for Damac, allowing them to return to winning ways and claim their third victory of the season. The result lifted their tally to 19 points, moving them up to 15th place — the last position that guarantees a spot in the top flight.

Al Riyadh, meanwhile, continued their negative run after suffering a third consecutive defeat, leaving them stuck on 16 points and dropping to 16th place as they slip further into the relegation battle.

The match saw Damac clearly dominate proceedings, making the most of their attacking opportunities with efficiency. They opened the scoring in the 35th minute through Jonathan Okita, who skillfully controlled a long pass from defender Jamal Harkass before unleashing a powerful strike that found the net.

At the start of the second half, the hosts maintained their pressure in search of a second goal, which came in the 53rd minute through Valentín Vada. The midfielder capitalized on space in Al Riyadh’s defense during a counterattack, carrying the ball into the penalty area before firing a precise low shot into the net.

The third goal followed shortly after, as Sanoussi Al Hawsawi sealed the result just after the hour mark. Rising to meet a corner delivered by Abdulrahman Al Obaid, he powered a close-range header into the net to confirm Damac’s superiority in the match.

In a separate development, the Saudi Arabian Football Federation’s Disciplinary and Ethics Committee issued several disciplinary decisions following the events of Damac’s earlier match against Al Ahli in Round 10 of the league, which saw clashes between players and several controversial refereeing incidents.

The committee decided to suspend Damac president Khalid bin Mashait for two official matches, based on the referee’s report which cited abusive remarks directed at match officials. The club president was also fined 20,000 Saudi riyals payable to the Saudi Arabian Football Federation.

The Disciplinary Committee confirmed that the decision is final and not subject to appeal, in accordance with Article 144 of the federation’s disciplinary and ethics regulations.
