Bayern Munich Faces a Borussia Monchengladbach Trap

The Bundesliga resumes with Bayern Munich under threat despite leading the table with 36 points. The Bavarians aim to reclaim the league title after a trophy-less season last year.

Bayern kicks off their second-leg campaign visiting eighth-placed Borussia Mönchengladbach, who have 24 points. However, the Bavarians might be without their talented winger Jamal Musiala, who is battling “flu-like symptoms,” as confirmed by the club on Thursday. Musiala has been unable to participate in team training ahead of the match.

Under Belgian coach Vincent Kompany, Bayern closed out last year on a shaky note, with one loss and one draw in their last four league matches after a six-game winning streak. Austrian midfielder Kevin Stöger of Gladbach commented, “Bayern is the best team in the Bundesliga. But I think we’ve performed well against strong opponents this season. We’ve controlled many matches at Borussia Park and often played with confidence.”

He added, “We know Saturday’s task will be tough, but we want to continue proving our strength at home. With our fans supporting us, we are strong. We’re excited for the big match.”
