Osimhen Inspires Galatasaray to Commanding Champions League Victory Over Bodo/Glimt

Victor Osimhen once again proved his status as one of Europe’s most lethal forwards, scoring twice and providing an assist as Galatasaray swept aside Norwegian champions Bodo/Glimt 3–1 to record their second successive Champions League win.

The Nigerian striker was at his devastating best in Istanbul, netting twice before the interval and setting up Yunus Akgun for a third after the break. The result marked the Turkish champions’ first back-to-back victories in Europe’s premier club competition since December 2012 and lifted them to 14th in the overall table, up from 21st.

Osimhen’s first goal came after just 11 minutes, when he latched onto Mario Lemina’s clever pass and slotted a precise low shot into the bottom corner. His second arrived on the half-hour mark — a gift from Fredrik Bjorkan’s disastrous backpass — which the 26-year-old calmly converted after rounding goalkeeper Nikita Haikin.

The brace took Osimhen’s tally to five goals in this season’s competition and set a new club record: he became the first Galatasaray player to score in seven consecutive European matches, surpassing Burak Yilmaz’s long-standing mark from 2012–13.

Although he missed two clear chances to complete another hat-trick — having scored one for Nigeria against Benin just eight days earlier — Osimhen remained central to Galatasaray’s dominance. His high pressing and defensive work even contributed to the third goal, as his challenge on Haitam Aleesami allowed Akgun to score at the second attempt.

For Bodo/Glimt, there were moments of frustration rather than inspiration. Jens Hauge fired wide when well placed, and Sondre Fet struck the post before substitute Andreas Helmersen grabbed a late consolation with a close-range header from Bjorkan’s cross.

The defeat leaves the Norwegian side still without a win in the group phase, rooted in the elimination zone with just two points from three matches. In contrast, Galatasaray — unbeaten in 10 home matches across all competitions — look revitalized under Okan Buruk and ready to make a serious push toward the knockout stages.
