Semenyo Set for Manchester City Switch as £65m Clause Is Triggered

The 25-year-old Ghana international is scheduled to undergo his medical assessment following Bournemouth’s Premier League fixture against Tottenham on Wednesday evening. Once formalities are completed, City intend to finalise the transfer ahead of the January 10 deadline attached to the clause.

Despite widespread interest from several elite clubs — including Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham — City emerged as the only side to advance discussions to a formal stage with Bournemouth, underlining Pep Guardiola’s determination to strengthen his attacking options during the winter window.

Semenyo has been one of Bournemouth’s standout performers this season, contributing nine goals and three assists across all competitions. His pace, physical presence and tactical versatility have made him a key figure in Andoni Iraola’s system, particularly during the Cherries’ push for stability in the top half of the table.

Speaking ahead of the Spurs clash, Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola admitted the winger’s future appeared uncertain. While stressing that no documents had yet been signed, he acknowledged that market dynamics suggested a possible farewell, describing Semenyo as “almost impossible to replace” at this stage of the campaign.

If completed, the move would mark another significant statement from Manchester City as they look to maintain domestic dominance and sustain their European ambitions in the second half of the season.
