Tottenham Open Talks with Manchester City for Brazilian Winger Savinho

Tottenham Hotspur have initiated discussions with Manchester City over a potential deal for 21-year-old Brazilian winger Savinho, as the North London club looks to strengthen its attacking department following the high-profile departure of Son Heung-min to LAFC.

Negotiations are still at an early stage, with sources indicating that City have no current plans to sell the player. Any departure would require an offer exceeding £50 million — a figure that would deliver a substantial profit after signing him from French side Troyes for £30.8 million just last year.

Savinho was a consistent presence under Pep Guardiola during the 2024-25 season, making 48 appearances in all competitions and scoring three goals, while also contributing through his work rate and creativity on the flanks. However, the recent £30 million signing of French winger Rayan Cherki from Lyon could reduce his opportunities for regular minutes at the Etihad.

Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank is keen to add attacking firepower after losing both Son and creative midfielder James Maddison, who suffered an ACL injury during a pre-season draw with Newcastle in South Korea. Maddison’s absence for most of the upcoming campaign has intensified the club’s urgency in the transfer market.

The pursuit of Savinho follows Spurs’ acquisition of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham for £55 million, and comes after their failed attempt to sign Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White in a £60 million deal.
