Bayern focuses on Frankfurt’s game and thinks about the “Mercato.”

Bayern Munich, with their thirteenth-stage match against Union Berlin to the 24th of January postponed due to heavy snowfall, are gearing up for their clash against Frankfurt this weekend. This clash represents a critical fixture as they strive to remain in close contention for the top spot in the league.
However, amidst the immediate focus on this challenging encounter, the attention within the Munich camp is undeniably drifting towards the upcoming winter “Mercato.” The German champions are eager to fortify their squad during the January transfer window.
Recent reports from the German press shed light on Bayern’s determined pursuit of right-back Arnau Martinez from Girona.
According to the German newspaper “Bild,” the 20-year-old player has emerged as a prime target for Bayern in the upcoming transfer market.
Described as a versatile right back with the ability to advance and contribute to midfield play, Martinez is seen as a fitting addition to Coach Thomas Tuchel’s strategy. Meanwhile, the Catalan publication “Sport” suggests that Barcelona is also competing for Martinez, willing to pay 20 million euros to secure the services of the Spanish youth national team player.
The interest in Martinez is part of Bayern Munich’s broader efforts to address defensive challenges faced during the current season. “Bild” reveals that Bayern closely monitored several matches featuring the young talent at Girona to assess his skills thoroughly. In addition to Martinez, the German club has also expressed interest in Nordi Mukiele, the Paris Saint-Germain full-back.
However, as per “Bild,” PSG seems unwilling to part ways with Mukiele at this stage because Achraf Hakimi, another full-back from PSG, is set to participate in the African Cup of Nations, creating a need for the French player’s presence during this crucial period for the club.
