Al Ahly Crowned Egyptian League Champions with Six-Goal Thrashing of Pharco

For the 45th time in their history, Al Ahly have been crowned champions of the Egyptian Premier League after a resounding 6–0 victory over Pharco in the eighth round of the Championship Phase.

With this win, Al Ahly raised their tally to 58 points, two ahead of second-placed Pyramids, who, despite securing a big win of their own—beating hosts Ceramica Cleopatra 5–1—fell short of clinching the title.

At Cairo International Stadium, Palestinian striker Wissam Abu Ali scored a “super hat-trick” (10’, 33’, 62’, 65’), with Hussein El Shahat (75’) netting the fifth goal and Emam Ashour adding the sixth (90+2), capping off a perfect season finale for the champions.

It took less than 10 minutes for Al Ahly to break the deadlock, when Ashour played a through ball to Ahmed Nabil “Koka” on the left flank, who delivered a cross that Abu Ali calmly slotted into the net to open the scoring for the hosts.

In the midst of Al Ahly’s total domination, Abu Ali doubled the lead in the 33rd minute after Moroccan Ashraf Bencharki made a brilliant run down the left, dribbled past two defenders, and sent in a cross that Abu Ali converted with a classy finish.

Al Ahly’s path to a commanding victory and the title became even clearer when the referee consulted VAR and sent off Pharco goalkeeper Mohamed Saeed “Sheika” for a foul on the onrushing Ashour. From the resulting free kick, Abu Ali blasted the ball into the net to complete his hat-trick in the 62nd minute.

Al Ahly coach Emad El-Nahhas then introduced Tunisian trio Ali Maaloul, Mohamed Magdy “Afsha,” and goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir in place of Bencharki, Koka, and Mohamed El Shenawy. Just three minutes after the substitutions, Ashour found Maaloul on the wing, who delivered a cross that Abu Ali finished directly to complete his four-goal haul.

El-Nahhas also brought on Hussein El Shahat for Taher Mohamed Taher (73’), and within a minute, El Shahat received a cross from Abu Ali and fired a powerful shot into the net for the fifth goal.

In the second minute of stoppage time, Marwan Attia played a through ball to El Shahat, who cut it back for Ashour to slot home the sixth goal—his 13th of the season—putting him at the top of the league's scoring chart.

At the Suez Canal Authority Stadium in Ismailia, Pyramids defeated hosts Ceramica Cleopatra 5–1.

Abdelrahman Magdy gave Pyramids the lead in the 15th minute from the penalty spot, before Moroccan Ahmed Belhadj equalized for Ceramica Cleopatra with a penalty of his own (21’). Marwan Hamdy restored the visitors’ lead in the 25th minute.

In the second half, Magdy added a third for Pyramids (61’), followed by an own goal from Ceramica player Mazen Yasser (76’), before Congolese striker Fiston Mayele completed the five-goal haul in the final minute.
