Carlo Ancelotti Takes the Helm of Brazil’s National Football Team

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) hailed the “landmark moment of the coming together of two icons,” highlighting the historic achievements of both Brazil’s five World Cup wins and Carlo Ancelotti’s distinguished European coaching record. Ancelotti, stepping into his first international role, arrives with an unparalleled managerial legacy, being the only coach in history to have conquered all five of Europe’s top leagues.

The world's most successful national football team has been on the hunt for their fifth head coach in two-and-a-half years, following the dismissal of Dorival Junior in late March. Ancelotti's appointment marks the end of a turbulent period for Brazil’s footballing future.

Since returning to Real Madrid for a second stint in 2021, Ancelotti led the club to two La Liga and Champions League doubles. However, following a loss to Barcelona in the recent El Clasico, it is almost certain that his final season at Madrid will not see any additional silverware. Ancelotti will depart the Bernabeu the day after Real Madrid’s final match of the La Liga season against Real Sociedad.
