Zamalek Achieves Victory in a Historic Match for Al-Saeed

Zamalek secured a routine 2-1 victory over Talaea El Gaish at the Military College Stadium in Cairo in a postponed match from the sixteenth stage of the Egyptian Football League. This match was significant for Zamalek’s player, Abdullah Al-Saeed, who continued to make history by becoming the third-highest scorer in the competition’s history.

Youssef Ibrahim “Obama” gave Zamalek the lead in the 43rd minute, and Al-Saeed added the second in the 54th minute from a penalty kick. This goal raised Al-Saeed’s tally to five goals for the season with Zamalek and a total of 129 goals in the league, scored for Al-Ismaily, Al-Ahly, Pyramids, and Zamalek. This achievement places him third on the list of historical scorers, behind Hassan El Chadly (176 goals) and Hossam Hassan (168 goals).

Zamalek defender Ahmed Magdy scored an own goal in the 69th minute, providing Talaea El Gaish with their only goal of the match.

This win marks Zamalek’s second consecutive victory and their thirteenth of the season, raising their total to 44 points in fifth place. However, they will lose three points at the end of the season due to their withdrawal from the match against Al-Ahly in the 27th stage. Meanwhile, Talaea El Gaish remains at 35 points in eleventh place.

The first significant attempt of the match came from Talaea El Gaish’s midfielder Mohamed Hani, who fired a powerful long-distance shot that missed the goal. Obama was behind Zamalek’s first major attempt, 20 minutes later, with a similar long-range shot.

The home team’s most dangerous chance came in the 39th minute when Abdel Rahman Osama “Sheka” followed up on a rebound from Zamalek goalkeeper Mohamed Sobhi, but his close-range shot narrowly missed the goal.

Obama opened the scoring for Zamalek in the 43rd minute, heading in a cross from Al-Saeed from the right side, beating goalkeeper Omar Radwan.

Early in the second half, Zamalek was awarded a penalty kick after goalkeeper Radwan fouled Mostafa Shalaby. Al-Saeed converted the penalty in the 54th minute.

Despite putting pressure on Zamalek, Talaea El Gaish managed to reduce the deficit in the 69th minute. Karim Tariq passed to Ahmed Al-Sheikh, whose shot deflected off Zamalek defender Ahmed Magdy and into Mohamed Sobhi’s net.

In another match within the 30th stage, Modern Sport defeated Al-Mokawloon Al-Arab 2-1 at Al-Jabal Al-Akhdar Stadium in Cairo.

Moroccan player Abdelkebir El-Wadi (21) and Cameroonian Arnold Iba (45) scored for Modern Sport, while Ahmed Abdel Aziz (73 from a penalty kick) scored for Al-Mokawloon.

Modern Sport raised their score to 47 points, securing fourth place, while Al-Mokawloon Al-Arab remains in seventeenth and penultimate place with 20 points, complicating their chances of remaining in the competition with four stages remaining.

Al-Ahly is set to face Pyramids in a postponed match from stage 14 on Friday at Cairo International Stadium.

Pyramids leads the standings with 68 points, ahead of Al-Ahly, which has 57 points but has played four fewer matches.
